The buds are a light shade of green and yellow with amber hairs on the trichomes giving it an even more yellow tent. 

REVIEW
I not only had a relaxed feeling from this strain, but I was also full of energy.  A long lasting feeling of happiness and euphoria.  I would rank this strain highly for those who suffer from depression.  The relaxed feeling helped with my arthritis, but kept me awake and energized, making it a perfect daytime med.  The flavor on exhale was smooth with a sweet citrus taste.  This is ranked high with me on the Sativa Dominant strains. It is also a great plant for a at home grower.  Lemon Haze, I find, is perfect with edibles, both to cook with and for the consumer on the go. 
This strains THC has been measured at about 15-20% with CBD of 0.38%.

Many may not know this, but the dense growth of hemp actually kills weeds (the bad kind, lol).  Hemp crops are a very effective method of killing tough weeds, even thistle, in farming by minimizing the pool of weed seeds of the soil.  Using hemp this way can help farmers avoid the use of herbicides and gain organic certification and benefits for crop rotation. For successful hemp farming, particularly deep, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil with controlled water flow is preferable.  Compressed, sandy, and water logged soils may affect the aryl development of the plants like it would any other crop.  However, an advantage to growing hemp verse other crops, hemp is relatively insensitive to cold temperatures and can withstand frost down to -5 degrees C.  Another fact is that the water requirement of hemp is at least 14 times lower than that of cotton. Hemp is also a beneficial crop for its soil.  Its large root system helps with soil loosening and helps benefit the crops to come after it. Since hemp is very self-compatible, it can also be grown several years in a row in the same fields (monoculture). Yet another advantage of hemp is it can be vulnerable to various pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and other miscellaneous pathogens. Such diseases often lead to the reduction in fiber quality, stunted growth, and death of a plant.  These diseases rarely affect the yield of a hemp field, so hemp production is not traditionally dependent on the use of pesticides.

The phrase "mop crop" is used to describe hemps ability to clear the impurities out of waste water, such as sewage effluent, excessive phosphorus from chicken feces, or unwanted chemicals.  As a matter of fact, hemp is currently being used to clean contaminants at the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster site.  This process of clearing radioisotopes as well as a variety of other toxins from the soil, water, and air is known as phyoremediation. Dr. Keith Bolton from Southern Cross University in Lismore, New South Wales, Austrailia, is the leading Eco-technologist researcher in this area. 

Also hemp can also be used as warmth for both plants and animals.  The core of the stem is called Hemp Shives.  Broken parts of this core, known as hemp hurds, are used for horticultural mulch and also as animal bedding (horses, for instance).

Due to its rapid and dense growth characteristics, growing massive crops of this known versatile plant is NOW "AGAIN" being looked at to be added to or agricultural industry.  Please help spread knowledge to aid in the legalization of Hemp.  After all Hemp Helps!

How To Make Your Own Medical Marijuana Oil with a Solvent.

How To Make Your Own Medical Marijuana Oil with a Solvent.

First, you need the female plant to make effective medical marijuana oil.  True medical marijuana oil (aka hemp oil) is made from the buds of the female marijuana plant.  The THC and Cannabinoids in the plant allows it to impact cells and offer medicinal benefits.

THC Note: Medical Marijuana Oil is also known as hemp oil, hash oil, or cannabis oil. 

The Happy Chef Method of Making Medical Marijuana Oil with a Solvent 

You will need:

Flower (strain of choice)
Solvent (of choice)
Plastic Buckets (2)
Wooden Stick - untreated/clean
Funnel (1)
Cheese Cloth or Coffee Filters
Rice Cooker
Dehydrator
Oven Mitts
Plastic Gallon Jugs
Plastic Syringes

First Purchasing Your Plants

When purchasing your plants you should get a strain that has the highest possible THC content.  For most medical conditions, try an Indica strain, this strain helps with relaxation, appetite, rest and/or sleep disorders. For those needing a more active strain, a good Sativa is recommended for those who are in need of more energy or those suffering from depression. 

I normally recommend starting with a large amount, a pound (454 grams), because this process is rather involved. 

The amount of Medical Marijuana Oil you get will vary from strain to strain.

1 pound (454 grams) = (about) 64 grams of Medical Marijuana Oil
1 ounce (28 grams) = (about) 4 grams of Medical Marijuana Oil

THC Note:  Do not be discouraged as to how much oil verse flower you started with.  Remember you are extracting and thus getting rid of the plant matter and only leaving the active ingredient that you need. Fact: a little goes a long way. 

Choosing a Solvent.

A solvent is used in this extraction method to strip the THC off the plant.  There is a variety of different solvents you may try. The two most common, and the safest, are naphtha and alcohol. 

For a solvent to be 100% effective it should be 100% pure.  A high proof alcohol, even tho it can be expensive, is a great solvent to use.

Pure naphtha, also known as benzine, is an inexpensive solvent.  Naphtha is also used as paint thinner so you will find this product available at most paint supply stores.

THC Note:  All of these solvents are poisonous in nature, even alcohol i.e. “alcohol poisoning”, so it is imperative that you follow instructions for extraction very carefully.

I personally recommend staying away from ether and butane.  Even tho ether works extremely well in this process, it is very volatile and is best used in laboratory conditions.  Butane is likewise very volatile, but I believe it to be a less-effective method and it producing a less-effective “medical” product.  My opinion aside, butane can be very dangerous to work with and should only be handled by professionals in laboratory conditions. 

I strongly suggest to do additional research on solvents, what methods others have used “successfully” before beginning your first batch.  

Solvent/Cannabis measurements.
You will need:

2 gallons (7.57 liters) of solvent for every 1 pound (454 grams) of dry cannabis.

17 ounces (500 milliliters) of solvent for every 1 ounce (28 grams) of dry cannabis. 

Once you have chosen your flower of choice and solvent it is time to start the extraction process.  

Your First Wash.

WARNING: This process must be done in a well-ventilated area away from flames, sparks, cigarettes, joints, blunts, or fire of any kind because the solvent(s) are extremely flamable. 

In a large plastic bucket add your “dry” plant buds and half of the solvent of choice. Grab your clean,untreated wooden stick and begin crushing the buds and leaves.  Then add more solvent, leaving some for next wash, until the plant matter is completely immersed and continue to crush for 3-5 minutes.  This act works to dissolve the THC off the plant material into the solvent. 

Pour or strain the solvent-oil mix off the plant material into the other plastic bucket.  Leave the plant matter in the starting container.  At this stage in the extraction process you have already stripped the plant of about 80% of its THC. 

Your Second Wash.

Again add solvent to the bucket with the plant material, grab the untreated wooden stick and crush for another 3-5 minutes to get the remainder of the beneficial resin.  When done, add this solvent-oil mix to the bucket you poured off your first mix into and discard the remaining plant material.  

Filter Your Oil.

Using the empty gallon jugs, insert a funnel into the neck of the bottle.  Place a cheese cloth or coffee filter in funnel and pour solvent-oil mix through to remove any unwanted plant material. 

Boil Off The Solvent.

WARNING: This process must be done in a well-ventilated area away from flames, sparks, cigarettes, joints, blunts, or fire of any kind because the solvent(s) are extremely flamable.  There will be fumes at this stage in the process.  It is a good idea to set up a fan to blow the fumes away. 

You will need to heat your mixture so the solvent boils away and ONLY the oil remains.  A rice cooker I have found works the best for this process because it has a built-in heat sensor that prevents the rice from burning.  So in this case, it will prevent the temperature of your solvent-oil mixture from becoming to high.  At no time should the temperature of the oil go over 290 degrees Fahrenheit (140 C).  If it does, the cannabinoids will vaporize off of the oil.  

Fill the rice cooker until it is about three-quarters full and put the heat setting on “high”.  Keep a close eye on the mixture as it cooks.  As the solvent-oil mix level in the rice cooker drops, begin adding more solvent-oil until you have none left.  

Remove The Last of the Solvent. 

When there is about 2 inches of solvent-oil mix left (depends on amount you started with) in the rice cooker, you will need to add a few drops of water to boil off the last remaining amount of solvent.  

Measurement variations:
If used:

1 pound (454 grams) use about 10 drops of filtered water
1 ounce (28 grams) use 2 drops of filtered water

In doing this process the water will cause the oil to bubble or crackle, you may see steam or a bit of smoke coming off the oil, this is completely normal. 

An aid to this technique if you like, you can put on a pair of oven mitts, pick up the rice cooker and swirl the oil around.  This aids in the evaporation process. 

When the solvent has been boiled off, the rice cooker should automatically switch to the “low” setting.

Vaporize The Water.

With the oven mitts still on, remove the inner pot containing the oil from the rice cooker.  Carefully pour the oil into a small stainless steel container.  Place the container in the dehydrator.  After the oil stops bubbling, remove the container from the dehydrator and allow to cool in temperature. 

THC Note: The water could boil away quickly or it may take a couple hours for the oil to stop bubbling.  Varies depending on strain of plant material used. 

Packaging Oil For Use.

You may pour the oil into a clean bottle, I prefer plastic syringes as it adds accuracy in measuring out your doses.  Immerse the tip of a plastic syringe into the oil and gently pull back the plunger to draw the warm oil up into the syringe and let it cool.  Syringes also make it easy to dispense the medicine.

Storing The Medical Marijuana Oil. 

Like any food oil rich in essential fatty acids, hemp/canna oil will spontaneously oxidize and turn rancid within a short period of time if not stored properly.  For maximum shelf life store in a airtight container in a dark place and/or refrigerated.
